Salamander Coverboard Project in Linville Gorge

June 10, 2017 Wild South volunteers led by Morgan Harris, Wild South’s Conservation Biologist, began installing tree “cookies” in the Linville Gorge Wilderness. As part of a salamander habitat project, these cookies will create the necessary habitat for these critters to thrive. Future plan is to monitor and maintain these plots for scientific research. If anything, this provides an excellent citizen science project opportunity which engages the local Linville Gorge community. Stay tuned for further updates!
