Join us for a work day in Cheaha Wilderness, Talladega National Forest. We will be performing light trail maintenance that will involve naturalizing fire rings, removing trash from existing fire rings and brushing and clearing minor trail blockages.

This month we will be working on naturalizing unnecessary fire rings and cleaning out long standing fire pits on the Pinhoti trail. We will park at the Turnipseed parking lot on highway 281. From there we will hike on the Chinnabee Silent trail to the junction of Chinnabee/Odum & Pinhoti trails. This junction has many fire pits that need to be cleaned. From here we will continue south on the Pinhoti trail for another 1/2 to 3/4 mile and will clean more fire rings. The entire trip will be approx. 6 miles round trip out and back. The approach going up Chinnabee is very steep. Please know your limitations. This work day is rated difficult due to the approach.

Saturday, February 3rd, meet at the Cheaha State Park store at 9 a.m. Address is 19644 Hwy 281, Delta, AL, 36258 Wear closed toe, sturdy shoes. Bring plenty of water, a sack lunch. We will provide all tools. Helmets are required and we will provide one if you don’t have one.
