ASHEVILLE, NC –The Conservation Alliance Outstanding Partnership Award highlights collaboration of Eagles Nest Outfitters and Wild South, reaching thousands to advocate for the protection of Southern wild places.

Eagles Nest Outfitters, Black Diamond Equipment and The Forest Group were the selected winners of The Conservation Alliance Outstanding Partnership Award for 2014.  The award recognizes member companies who go above and beyond in building relationships with Conservation Alliance grantees.

“We are thrilled to celebrate the interaction between our members and the conservation groups in their communities” said John Sterling, Executive Director of The Conservation Alliance. “By telling their stories, we hope to encourage more of these partnerships.”

Wild South and ENO have worked together over the past year to engage thousands of people through the “Wild South Wednesdays” environmental education and advocacy campaign. The campaign has expanded to include other outdoor retailers that support Wild South’s mission and highlighted the mutual passion for protecting the South’s wild places where we go for recreation, respite and rejuvenation.

“Wild South is incredibly thankful to The Conservation Alliance for their honor of  ENO and our collaborative work in conservation that encourages everyone to work together to make a difference and protect our planet for future generations” said Pat Byington, Executive Director at Wild South.

“We are honored and grateful for this award,” said ENO’s Vice President of Sales, Bobby Jackson. “We are so lucky to have an inspiring organization as Wild South just a few blocks up from the ENO offices and it seems like the momentum with this partnership is really cranking. We can’t wait to see what we can accomplish in the future, especially with The Conservation Alliance on our side!”

Conservation Alliance grantees from the past 2 years may nominate member companies for the award recognition. The nominations describe how the CA member company has engaged in meaningful partnership to help the organization succeed in conservation work.

“ENO has become a major leader in the Southeast and we nominated them for this award because our ‘Wild South Wednesdays’ campaign drastically raised awareness for our work to protect the last best places and collaborate with outdoor retailers partners as well” said Benjamin Colvin, Wild South’s Development Director. “Wild South’s mission is to inspire people to enjoy, value and protect, so we recognize that advocates are created when they get outside, recreate and experience wild places in the South. “

The Wild South Wednesday campaign has collaborated with regional outdoor retailers and leaders including ENO, Rock Creek Outdoors, Alabama Outdoors, Mountain High Outfitters, Mast General Store, Sunrift Adventures, Deltec Homes, Footsloggers, RootsRated and others that form a network through which a huge impact is made on the protection of wild places and wild things in the South.
