Elk Knob Bumble Bee Hike & Training
June 15, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Join Us for a Bumble Bee Hike & Citizen Science Training in Elk Knob State Park!
Saturday, June 15th
About the Event: Come search for the Rusty Patched Bumble Bee with Morgan, Wild South conservation biologist. This event is open to new and experienced Citizen Scientists alike! Training will be provided.
Where to Meet: Meet at the Lowes Foods of Boone at New Market Center at 9:00 am. We will carpool to the Elk Knob trailhead. (If meeting the group at the trailhead, please let us know when signing up, and plan to arrive at 9:20 am.)
Information About the Hike: The Elk Knob Summit Trail is approximately 3.8 miles round trip, and is classified as moderate. For a good description of what to expect, click here.
What to Bring: Bring a backpack with snacks, lunch, and plenty of drinking water. You will need your cell phone, specimen jar, and a digital or phone camera. If you are new to hunting for bumble bees, a jar will be provided! We recommend wearing weather-appropriate clothing, shoes with adequate tread, and long pants due to the presence of ticks this time of year.
RSVP Required: To sign up, please email morgan@wildsouth.org
We Can’t Wait to See You There!
