Guided Hike in Bankhead National Forest
December 7, 2019 @ 9:30 am - 2:30 pm

Destination to be decided according to weather, creek levels, etc.
Come explore the sandstone canyons and creeks of the Bankhead National Forest. Early winter in a forest of fallen leaves and soaring evergreens allows a longer view to tall bluffs and spectacular rock formations. Even in December, the forest is green with mosses, Eastern hemlocks, pines, hollies and ferns. Winter rains will have the creeks and waterfalls running. Don’t miss it!
The hike will follow a trail that may be rough, rooty and rocky with little elevation change and narrow, shallow creek crossings. Be prepared for the terrain with shoes or boots with sturdy soles with good tread for slippery rocks.
In consideration of all – No dogs and no smoking, please.
Wild South hikes are part of our Alabama Outreach and Education program and are free of charge because we want people to get out there and get to know their forest! However, there will be a donation bucket on the picnic table. All hiker donations directly support ALOE. You may also donate online. Type ALOE into the Donation Code box. Thank you for your support!
