What’s In Your Backpack? Ten Hiking Essentials

February 16, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Spend a day learning about the 10 hiking essentials and exchanging ideas with other hikers. Peek into each other’s packs, get to know each other and have a fun wilderness hike!

Wild South’s Wilderness Volunteer Coordinator, Kim Waites, has been leading and teaching wilderness skills for a decade.  Kim is a Leave No Trace Master Educator and Wilderness First Responder. Spend the day learning from an expert!

The hike will begin at the Wild South office in Moulton, Alabama where we will spend an hour or so discussing the 10 Hiking Essentials and getting prepared for a wilderness hike in the Sipsey Wilderness. Then we will drive to the Sipsey Recreation Area trailhead and take a hike along the Sipsey Fork and Borden Creek.

Group size limit is 10 including the leader. You must register by emailing Kim at kim@wildsouth.org

This hike is free yet Wild South accepts donations towards the ALOE fund, Alabama Outreach and Education! Bring your backpack with what you usually take on a hike along with a lunch and water. Dress in layers, February days can warm up quickly. Sorry, no dogs and no smoking.
