Wild Wednesday Hikes to Borden Creek & Sipsey Fork
July 10 @ 9:30 am
Come Adventure with Wild South!
Wednesday, July 10th
Hike #1 to Borden Creek
Our hike will begin at the Borden Creek trailhead on Bunyan Hill Rd, on the eastern side of the Sipsey Wilderness. We will follow trail 200 through the forest along Borden Creek, stopping to admire sandstone bluffs and rock formations. We will pass through the Fat Man’s Squeeze (a narrow, 30-foot-long sandstone tunnel), and admire the dramatic scenery on the other side. Hikers will also have a chance to get in the creek!
Leader: Kim Waites
Distance: Approx. 3 miles roundtrip
Hike #2 to Sipsey Fork
The Sipsey Recreation Area Trail follows the Sipsey Fork downstream on the southern edge of the Sipsey Wilderness. This winding trail curves in and out of coves characterized by waterfalls and old-growth trees. We will be in the water for much of the hike back upstream as we navigate from one sandbar to another (water level permitting), and will end our hike with a scenic lunch at the swimming hole!
Leader: Janice Barrett
Distance: 1.5 miles or less with longer option
Fee: There is a $3 per car day-use fee
