Float the Sipsey with Wild South, April 13
For this Bankhead National Forest adventure, we are trading our hiking boots for boats!
Bring your kayak or canoe and join us on Saturday, April 13 for a Sipsey float led by Wild South volunteer Carroll Wilson.
Group size is limited, so sign up in advance by emailing Janice.
Distance: 9 miles
Meet-up and put-in: Sipsey Recreation Area, lower parking lot, 9:30 a.m. Around 10:00, vehicles will be shuttled to the take-out point on Highway 33
Take-out: Mims Takeout at Highway 33
Ages 10 and over. Appropriate for novices. Must be 16+ years old to float solo.
Bring kayak or canoe, lunch in a waterproof container, drinking water, snacks, safety vest. There is a $3 per car fee so stop at the upper parking lot, before crossing the bridge, and pay at the box. There is also an outhouse there.
