Looking forward to another great hike in the Bankhead. How much damage did the forest suffer from the fire(s)?

Not too bad, Jim. It was mostly a low intensity fire except in some areas where there were heavier fuels from storm damage and SPB activity. It was basically like a 2,000 acre prescribed burn. Leaf fall and needle drop had already covered the ground within a couple weeks after the fire. Overall, the effects of the fire will be more positive than negative.
