Hike with Wild South in the Bankhead National Forest

9:30 a.m. at the Wild South office 552 Lawrence Street, Moulton, Alabama

Destination:  Some spectacular place in the Bankhead National Forest (exact route to be announced but take your chances and go ahead and sign up!)

Level of difficulty:  Moderate

Distance:  Approx. 3 miles, round trip

All ages welcome.  Bring the kids!

Some things you can expect and be prepared for:

  • very cold temperature (mid-30’s)
  • rough forest trail, or no trail
  • narrow, mostly shallow creek crossings
  • some elevation change
  • slippery rocks and terrain

Wear clothing comfortable for hiking and appropriately layered for the weather; sneakers with good tread or hiking boots; wool socks are recommended for keeping feet warm even when they’re wet; rain jacket if rain is predicted.

Bring a daypack with lunch, snacks, drinking water.

Well-behaved, sociable, friendly, non-threatening dogs are allowed on Wild South hikes and must be kept leashed at all times.

After signing up, meet at the Wild South office in downtown Moulton at 9:30 a.m.  The hike will conclude by early-afternoon.

Wild South hikes are part of our Alabama Outreach and Education Program and are free of charge.  This program is funded entirely by donations from individuals and all contributions are gratefully accepted.
