On May 17, 2015, Wild South will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Sipsey Wilderness with a dedication of a new kiosk at the Borden Creek Trailhead in the Bankhead National Forest.  A plaque in honor of former Congressman Ronnie Gene Flippo of Florence, Alabama, the sponsor of legislation that expanded the Sipsey Wilderness in 1988, will be unveiled.  
 
Rep. Flippo and wilderness advocates from the 1970’s and 80’s will be on hand to celebrate four decades of one of our nation’s most precious natural treasures, the Sipsey Wilderness.

What:  Celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Sipsey Wilderness and the unveiling of a new kiosk honoring former Rep. Ronnie Flippo.
 
Where:  Borden Creek Trailhead in the Bankhead National Forest
 
When:  Sunday, May 17, 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.  After the ceremonies there will be refreshments and hikes led by Wild South.
