Sipsey Wilderness work day May 17
Helping Hands volunteer work day on Sipsey Wilderness trail 209 (Sipsey River Trail)
May 17, 2013
8:30 a.m.
All hands will be put to work on Trail 209 as we remove fallen trees from the trail. Crosscutters needed! If you’re not a crosscutter, come anyway! Trail 209 is in need of some loving care on all levels.
The hike in from the Sipsey Recreation Area parking lot on Cranal Road will be about 2 miles. All trail work in the Wilderness must be accomplished using hand tools only.
Wild South will provide tools and hardhats.
Be prepared for hiking a trail carrying all tools and personal gear, crossing Borden Creek, ticks, and whatever the weather has in store for us that day.
Bring backpack with lunch, plenty of drinking water, snacks.
Wear protective clothing and footwear: long pants, closed-toe, sturdy boots with good tread for precarious footing and slippery creek banks.
Meet at the Wild South office at 8:30 a.m., or at the Sipsey Rec upper parking lot at 9:00. Let us know if you prefer to meet us there.
Wild South is grateful to these funders who make our volunteer programs possible: Individual donors and
