Corinth glade

Sandstone glade restoration project

May 16, 2015

Join us as we embark upon the restoration of another one of the Bankhead National Forest’s rare glade communities!

Meetup time — 8:00 at the Wild South office 11312 Hwy. 33, Moulton, AL

or 9:00 at the Corinth glade  on County Road 57, south of highway 278, on the way to the Corinth Recreation Area, Double Springs, AL

Sign up at janice@wildsouth.org or 256-974-6166.  Please include your phone number and where you will meet the group.  Bring friends and family!  We need a crowd.

The glade is on the west side of the road, immediately adjacent to the road, if you plan to meet the group there.

This is a rather large glade, between 5 and 7 acres. We will begin the work of removing accumulated organic matter (such as downed trees), encroaching woody vegetation, and eradicating a considerable amount of non-native privet.
Bring:
  • lunch, snacks, drinking water
  • loppers if you have them
  • tick repellent
  • work gloves
  • hat

Wear long sleeves, long pants, sturdy, closed-toe shoes. We will provide necessary tools, hardhats, eye protection, etc.

We are grateful to our individual donors and the following funders for making our Helping  Hands Program possible:
