HH workday Trail 201 April workday mission accomplished:  Steps built, trail blockages cleared!

Next Volunteer Workday in Sipsey Wilderness:

Saturday, May 11

8:30 a.m. Wild South office

Sign up HERE

On May 11, we will team up on Sipsey Wilderness trails #203 and #207.  There is crosscut work to be done on 207 and we will give each of the these trails their springtime brushing, trimming encroaching vegetation from the corridor, removing obstacles from the trailbed, addressing drainage issues, appeasing the resident fairies, etc.

This is physically demanding work (fairy appeasement excluded) that requires hiking at least 5 miles roundtrip carrying all our tools while performing trail maintenance.  No mechanized tools of any kind are allowed in Wilderness so all our work is accomplished using hand tools, including crosscut saws.

After signing up, meet at the Wild South office at 11312 Hwy. 33, Moulton, AL at 8:30 a.m.

Bring backpack lunch, snacks, drinking water, nectar for the fairies, work gloves, hardhat if you have one.  All tools and protective gear will be provided.

This is a deviation from our regular third Saturday volunteer workday.

All ages are welcome.  Those under 18 must be accompanied by someone 18 or over.

Wild South’s Helping Hands Program is supported by the generosity of our donors and in part by a grant from the General Fund of the Walker Area Community Foundation.
