Wild Wednesdays are coming!

Every Wednesday in July and the first Wednesday in A
ugust, Wild Wednesday hikers will meet at the Wild South office in Wren, Alabama at 9:30 a.m. to explore some of the coolest places in the Bankhead National Forest.
Since 2014 is the 50th anniversary of the Wilderness Act, our Wild Wednesdays this year will focus on the marvels and meaning of “Wilderness” and will include forays into our own spectacular Sipsey Wilderness!

We will be visiting Lewis Smith Lake and staying near Bankhead beginning the week of June 28th. I think that Wednesday will be the first Wednesday in July. How do we sign up for the Wild Wednesday hikes – I have two teenage daughters – and are there also some other areas that we could take the girls’ grandmother to enjoy the wildness. She would need relatively flat ground and short hikes, but she does enjoy the outdoors. (I would be grateful if you could just point me in the right direction for information on things we can do in Bankhead with her)
