July Photos!
TABLE ROCK SUMMIT TRAIL – Excellent day together with young folks from Outward Bound, brushing the trail to the top of Table Rock.

SPENCE RIDGE – The bridge cleanup is nearing the finish line. The big towers are gone. Now we’re picking the last half ton of concrete out from between boulders. There’s still some blasting to do if anyone wants to see how small explosives are used in trail construction.

CABIN TRAIL – Shout out to these good folks for clearing fallen trees off the LGT near Cabin Trail, plus wading a quarter mile downstream to haul out a tire.

WHITE ROCKS TRAIL – Wild South’s summer interns spent an inspiring day with Gary Kauffman — botanist for the National Forests in North Carolina — dealing with invasive plants on Wilson Creek.

TABLE ROCK PICNIC AREA – Camp Lutherock joined Wild South for fire ring preventative maintenance at the popular Table Rock camping area, origin of the 2013 Table Rock Fire.

LOST COVE LOOP – A great bunch of teens from all over the country dodged thunderstorms to help repair two collapsing sections of the Lost Cove Loop.

HARPER CREEK & LOST COVE – Wild South’s summer interns took a day to train with crosscut saws, working Darkside Cliffs, North Harper Shortcut, and Little Lost Cove Cliffs Trails.

LOST COVE CREEK – Lost Cove is getting the love this year. Volunteers have been working their way along Lost Cove Creek — brushing, clearing fallen trees, armoring stream crossings to reduce erosion.

CHIMNEY GAP – Another outstanding team of teens from Outward Bound helped wrap up July with a solid effort on the big Chimney Gap trail reroute project.

Wild South’s Community Conservation Corps is a network of Southern National Forest communities working together to care for the wild places they love!
